Q. What kind of performances does No Strings Attached do? A. We typically put on two concerts a year: Acatoberfest and our Spring Concert. Both feature many a cappella groups across campus. We also compete annually in the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella (where we most recently placed 3rd at Quarterfinals!). Throughout the year we sing The National Anthem for various sports teams on campus including Illini Hockey, Basketball, and Baseball, and perform miscellaneous gigs such as benefit concerts, a winter high school tour and holiday parties. Q. What’s it like being in No Strings Attached? A. No Strings is a balance of musicianship, camaraderie, and a great college experience. We spend hours learning music together, laughing together, and touring together. By the end of your years with No Strings Attached, you have a whole new family of love, inspiration, and unending support!
Q. How often does No Strings Attached rehearse? A. We practice 3 times a week for an average of 3 hours at a time. Outside of rehearsal many of our members still find time to excel in challenging majors and several other extracurricular activities.
Q. How do I go about joining No Strings Attached? A. No Strings holds annual auditions at the beginning of every fall semester, and occasionally at the beginning of the subsequent spring semester. Q. What do I have to do to audition? A. Our audition process involves singing a portion of a song (from any genre) and/or showing off your vocal percussion skills for approximately 30-60 seconds. We will also warm you up to test your range and will have a brief sight-singing exercise. If we want to hear more from you, we will call you back to learn one of our songs and sing with the group!
